Healthy Worker Project 2012 to 14

During 2013 and 2014, Unions NT was able to operate a programme aimed at educating and benefitiing employers, workers and their families.

In 2013, the NT Country Liberal Party Government axed funding from a range of NT bodies that were providing professional support to individual Territorians and corporate bodies operating in the NT.  A continuation of the Health Worker Project was on one such casualty.

Unions NT hopes those workers who engaged with the project or received information from it, continue to benefit for themselves and their families.

Unions NT aspires to carry out similiar projects/activites in the future and our Executive Commitee remains open to dicussing similar health and well being projects with other stakeholders.

PROJECT DETAIL

Sue Earle and Carl Stephens were the Unions NT Healthy Worker Project and Construction Health Improvement Project Officers.  The projects focused on the promotion of healthy lifestyle, diet and related personal choices for construction workers in Darwin and Palmerston work sites initially. The project was oversighted by a steering committee consisting of representatives of unions, employers and the NT Government's Health Promotion Strategy Unit.
