Recently, Unions NT have launched The Young Workers Centre (YWC) NT which is a youth-led initiative that was established to be the point-of-call for Territorian workers under the age of 31. As a part of this initiative, the community campaigners have been conducting outreach to educate students about their rights at work and the role of unions. Over the course of the last few months, local schools and the Charles Darwin University has been visited with more educational programs planned.
The industrial seminars cover some important information about workers’ rights and how to get help when you need it. We have been very flexible with what content is covered, as to tailor the presentations depending on the interesting learning area of attending parties. Further, seminars can be prepared for a window of time ranging from 15 minutes to one hour. We cover a wide range of practical knowledge, or example, your rights at work, OHS, apprentices, and bullying and discrimination.
If you know of a school or a workplace that could benefit from our educational outreach, please don’t hesitate to contact us here at Unions NT.
